Language is central to identity and learning, enabling students to construct meaning and deepen their understanding of the world. We encourage multilingualism and are committed to the development of students’ English and Mother Tongue languages, as well as host country and other languages.

• All our students make sufficient and appropriate gains in their language learning as decisions, programs and policies are informed by well articulated and understood guiding statements regarding our language philosophy and vision.
• All our students make sufficient and appropriate gains in their language learning as teachers in all sections and subjects use the Language Guiding Statements to inform planning, instruction and assessment.
• All our students who study Japanese make sufficient and appropriate gains in their language learning, developing the ability to engage in authentic and increasingly sophisticated interactions within the host country environment.
• All our students develop greater fluency in their Mother Tongue language through classes facilitated at school and/or guidance provided to families.
