Dragon Dining: Delicious, Nourishing, Sustainable Foods
Welcome to Dragon Dining. We are working hard to provide a fully integrated dining experience, emphasizing everything natural, local, and delicious for our entire YIS community. Come see what's new.
Food is Fun:
We always keep in mind our main customers: growing children. While nutrition is the most important consideration -- we avoid fried foods, and encourage salads at the buffet -- we also believe food is a celebration. Whether it's our Dragon Rolls, Magic Wand Breadsticks, or our "Guru" Jun's Buddha Bowls, we believe in lifting up the spirit while satisfying the stomach.
Making Good Eating Habits for Life:
We realize Dragon Dining is helping students form lifelong eating habits, and we take that responsibility seriously. As well as a good mix of balanced daily lunches and home baked snacks, we provide healthy choices on the shelves for take-home, from bread mixes to hard-to-find beans and the super popular granola.
Sharing the skills of cooking:
We offer cooking classes for YIS students, too. One class is designed to assist the seniors with looking after themselves at university where many will be cooking for themselves for the first time, plus an extracurricular cooking program for elementary students.
Communities Connected by Food:
We're more than just a school cafeteria. We cater for a wide range of school functions; providing a welcoming space in the cafeteria to all, from small PTSA meetings and elementary charity onigiri-making to international teacher conferences.
Welcome to Dragon Dining at YIS
Like the hearth in a home, we are the go-to spot of our YIS community, and we extend that warmth to our partners at organic farms and suppliers across Japan. We encourage parents to share a meal with us; drop in anytime from 7:15 am to 4:15 pm, and experience the Dragon Dining difference.
