YIS alumni continue to have a deep connection to their alma mater and to the people they spent their time with at the school. We have had recent visits from alumni who attended in the 1970s and 1980s, and are constantly adding members who attended well before the 1980s to the alumni Facebook group. Former staff also visit and participate in the Facebook group. Indeed, many former students and staff live in the Kanto area and have close connections to the existing school community.
Several alumni from the '80s and '90s have taken the lead in organizing an informal reunion at Food Fair this year on Sunday November 4. All alumni, former students, former staff and former parents are invited to the reunion to celebrate their connection to our community. Details can be found in the YIS 2018 Japan Reunion Facebook group. We would love to see as many alumni as possible at our largest and most popular community event, which itself has a long history. Informal off-campus events are also being planned, information for which can be found in the Facebook group. Note that this is not a formal reunion organized by the school. Alumni who will be visiting YIS during the Food Fair decided to reach out to as many alumni as possible to make the community event as memorable as possible for all alumni, and thus created the Facebook group to spread the news about the reunion. Please do tell any alumni you may know about this special occasion. It is sure to be a day full of celebration and nostalgia.
The Food fair will be held from mid-morning until late afternoon, Sunday November 4.
