The Gift of the Class of 2020

The Gift of the Class of 2020

Each graduation class of YIS follows the tradition of giving the school a class gift to place on campus. The sakura tree near the main entrance, the wooden bench on the second floor of the Main Building, the school flag and other items decorating the campus are all class gifts. It allows each class to continue to be a part of daily life at YIS, and reminds those on campus that our community is composed of people who may not be on campus at the moment but whose spirit is always with us.

The Class of 2020 commissioned a watercolor painting by professional artist Fukui Ryouyu 福井良佑 to "represent the long-standing community of YIS, reminding us of the rich experiences and connections that were made throughout these years. Thus, despite moving to a new campus, we hope to reminisce about the place that played a significant part in our youth, as well as those who have studied at the former YIS campus." The beautiful and delicately colored piece of art is displayed in the Main Office. Thank you, Class of 2020. You will all continue to be a part of the long history of this campus.
