Food Fair 2025 opens Sunday, May 18, at 9:30 am – and all are welcome! Please spread the word – ask your family and friends to come and enjoy the day! You could also do this by sharing these posters on your personal social media, or putting them up on your supermarket or apartment building notice boards. Thank you!
The Unique Value of Food Fair
In addition to being the biggest event on the YIS Calendar (over 5,000 people attended the last one), Food Fair is unique for many reasons.
For one, it is the only event in the school year that brings together every segment of our community. Over 600 people are involved, directly or indirectly, in the Food Fair! This includes the entire range, from parents, students, teachers and school leadership, our dedicated cleaning staff and guards, to YIS alumni, external vendors, and even performing groups from other schools!
The Food Fair builds up our Community in ways that are short-term fun, but also deeply impactful in the medium- to long-term. Over the months of preparation for Food Fair, ideas are exchanged, time and resources are freely shared, and friendships are formed that can last a lifetime.
The focus on culture-sharing is strong! In addition to Food Fair Friday advance sales by booths, this year, we launched Food Fair Culture Workshops, where country teams created brief immersive experiences to introduce their culture (The final one in this series is scheduled for May 16, and you can sign up here). Additionally, we have 19 food booths on Food Fair day this year, representing over 30 countries! The understanding, mutual respect, and relationships that result from countless hours spent working side by side on these common goals are powerful and long-lasting.
Supporting the YIS PTSA Grants Program is the fund-raising goal of the Food Fair and, year after year, this goal has been met. The Food Fair is our biggest fund-raiser of the year, and the efforts of the entire Community come together to fund Grants that benefit our students and our wider community. This year, with the Grants process already concluded, the proceeds from the Food Fair will be channelled into these projects voted on by all of you.
All in all, the Food Fair remains the cornerstone of PTSA’s community-building and fund-raising efforts.
Come join us – and bring friends and neighbours!
Food Fair booth teams have spent the last several months working on creating a valuable experience for all of us – we hope you will bring as many people as you can to enjoy the fruits of their hard work! There will be food from around the world, games for all ages, Raffle and Tombola prizes to be won, our iconic White Elephant flea market, a toy lucky dip booth, Service team tables, vendors with exciting wares, and so much else!
We look forward to welcoming you to Food Fair 2025 and celebrating the diversity, richness, and hard work of our Community together!
Rain Plan
Our teams will your support even more if it rains! The Food Fair will go on, rain or shine. We have a rain plan that will enable booths to operate under cover and you can enjoy them all as usual. So, we hope that you will come by and support the booth teams’ months of hard work by joining us!
