Grade 6 Expedition
Developed together with our outdoor education partner Canyons, in Minakami, the grade 6 expedition facilitates inquiry into the statement: Being principled creates caring relationships. Guided by expert instructors at Canyons, students spend two nights in lodge style accommodation preparing for their hike and tent experience. Students will explore the relationships that people have with each other and wilderness and apply their knowledge in activities such as rappelling, canyoning, orienteering and mountain trail bike riding. The latter part of the week is spent developing and applying their campcraft ability in small groups. Students set up tents, prepare for their day hike and navigate their way along challenging trails. The students reflect on their self-management skills as well as different styles of collaboration required in adventurous journeys.
Note: The cost of this expedition is covered in the school tuition.
