Japanese
Learning a language is a window into culture. Japanese language learning enables students to acquire knowledge, skills and understandings that empower them to communicate within and beyond the classroom. Through inquiry and curiosity, students understand the structures of the Japanese language, and apply them in authentic communicative contexts. Building upon their prior language knowledge and experience, students develop understanding, knowledge and skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. To complement language development, students participate meaningfully in Japanese cultural experiences to develop new perspectives and a new sense of belonging in the world, and to understand more about themselves. Learning a language leads to the development of international mindedness.
