How long have you been at YIS?

This is my third year at YIS.

What are your two favorite subjects, and why do you like them?

My two favorite subjects are Art and English. These have always been my strongest subjects and I enjoy them because I am able to show my creativity and improve my critical and creative thinking skills.

What sports and activities are you involved in, and why do you like them?

I am involved in basketball and volleyball. I enjoy these sports because I am able to build friendships with other grades and also bond with my classmates in a way that is different from being in a classroom.

What do you like to do for fun outside of school?

Some things that I do for fun outside of school include drawing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Which teacher would you like to trade places with, and why?

I would like to trade places with the Design or Art teachers because they are able to see student’s creativity.

What were some surprising benefits you gained from Continuous Learning last spring? Was there anything that you learned about yourself, such as studying styles you prefer, or new habits you developed?

In the beginning, I was extremely nervous to start Continuous Learning because I have always thought of myself as a visual learner. I was surprised to discover that I actually succeed more when I am able to organize my own day and manage myself. I developed many healthy habits such as balancing my work and free time, as well as incorporating a lot of physical exercise throughout my day.

What famous person, past or present, would you most like to meet in person, and why?

I would choose Matthew Perry because I think that he is a very good role model. He stars in the light-hearted show, “Friends”, but has overcome many addictions in his life and has come out even stronger. He now helps others with the same addictions and uses his experiences to understand and support those struggling.

What excites you most about the new YIS campus?

I am most excited for the whole campus to be in one area and the extra space that will be built for the students.
