When did you attend YIS?

I attended YIS from 1991 until 1994.

Where you are based now, and what is your occupation?

I live in Dubai and am an airline pilot.

Which teachers played an important role in your time at YIS?

We had a lot of great teachers, though as a student, I may not have thought that at the time! I remember my gym teacher Mr. Matsumoto, Ms. Dixon, Mr. Klymow, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Langley well.

What is your most memorable moment from your time at YIS?

Winning the Junior Varsity football tournament with the team we had was probably the most miraculous moment. And we still laugh about singing the Speech Contest song. I was involved in many activities - football, cross country running, Brain Bowl and drama

Which grade-level or class at YIS would you want to relive, and why?

I would say that would be Grade 11. We didn't have final exams and it's an age at which we were just getting confident enough with ourselves.

Many alumni have a very close connection to YIS years after graduation, and remember the school and school life here fondly. Why is that for you?

We have a wonderful shared experience. We were kids put together from all over the world in a safe environment, with small class sizes and good teachers to facilitate academic, sport and social development. That's a winning formula. As I write this I am actually chatting to fellow classmates Gary Warnes , Will Westerink and Martyn Muntigh on What’s app. Our kids know each other which is great. I am in touch with many YIS alumni.
