High School Student
How long have you been at the school?
I have been at YIS for 2 and a half years, but I have lived in Japan all my life. I moved to Japan two months after I was born.
What are your two favorite subjects, and why do you like them?
My favorite subjects are math and science. In science, we get hands-on lessons that are enjoyable. In math, we get the freedom to choose among many topics but are still able to focus and learn a lot about those topics.
What non-academic activities are you involved in, and why do you like them
I am involved in tennis, basketball, badminton, and cricket.
What is it about YIS that makes you happy or content?
I think what makes me happy about YIS is the open community and safe environment we have. Everyone is friendly and warm.
Which teacher would you like to trade places with?
I would like to trade places with Mr. Mejia, my math teacher.
Which trip/activity/event outside class did you truly enjoy last school year and why?
I truly enjoyed our rafting expedition because we were learning many new things, being risk takers and getting a more diverse portfolio of skills.
Name three things you would like to have with you if you were stuck on a deserted island forever?
I would want a TV or radio to see what is going on in the world; my pets to keep my spirits up, and a phone to talk to my family.
Which celebrity/athlete/person in history would you like to meet in person?
Definitely Rafael Nadal. He is my favorite tennis player.
