COVID-19 remains a public health threat throughout the globe and infection rates in Japan, while fortunately far lower than in many other parts of the world, remain volatile. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to return to campus in some form when the new school year opens on Monday, August 17, 2020. At the same time, recognizing that a new wave of infection could occur at any point in the 2020-21 school year, we are preparing alternative models of learning that can be flexibly deployed over the school year as the situation evolves and public health needs dictate.
At the beginning of August we will share information regarding these alternative learning models, health and safety matters, and details on our plans for the first two weeks of school via email and posts on this page. This page will be updated throughout the year with other COVID-19-related developments that may impact school operations or be of interest to our community. These are trying times but we take comfort in knowing that YIS is a close, caring and resilient community and that, with everyone's support, our Live Learn Lead mission continues wherever we may be.
