All the Athletics news from the past week
Welcome to the YIS athletic program—home of the Dragons. Our goal is to encourage athletes of all ages to fully realize their potential by offering a varied program designed to stimulate and develop the interests of every participant. We believe that a first-class after-school athletic program helps prepare students for success in life, and we stress hard work, leadership, camaraderie, sportsmanship and fair play, while fostering a desire to learn about, and learn from, sports.
Our elementary school students have many exciting sports-related activities at school, complemented by additional opportunities for competition in invitational tournaments within the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. Our primary focuses are fun and inclusion, while at the same time introducing students to the basics of sportsmanship, skill development and teamwork.
In middle school and high school we participate in several associations, two domestic and one international. Middle school and high school teams both take part in most events within the greater Tokyo area as part of the KPASSP league. Our high school athletes also compete in the Kansai region as members of the WJAA league, as well as in AISA league events with schools in Japan and Korea.
The athletic program in middle and high school is an important part of a carefully crafted, balanced approach that aims to contribute to students' physical, social and emotional well-being, and move them one step closer to being able to take their place in the world as responsible global citizens. MS/HS after-school sports are offered by season:

Show your team spirit! Come and support our Dragons at their home games this week.
It was truly an inspiring sight to see so many of our students, both returning and new, actively joining their peers on the court, the pitch, and running through the streets of Yokohama. Regardless of the eventual team results at the end of this season, it is easy for me to say that this season has already been a successful one.
