At YIS, “PTSA” stands for the Parent, Teacher and Student Association, so all parents, teachers and students are members of the PTSA.
The main objectives of the PTSA are to:
- Support the goals of YIS
- Raise funds for specific projects
- Serve and support parents and students
- Be a link between the different interests at the school
- Give parents the opportunity to get together in a friendly and social atmosphere.
- Provide assistance for families new to YIS through our Mentor Program.
We welcome you to get involved to ensure that the PTSA meets its objectives.
We hold monthly PTSA meetings (usually the third Monday of every month in the mornings) and invite all parents to attend and take part in the discussions, which include participation by teacher and student representatives. At the meetings, you can meet and get to know other PTSA members and make your voice heard about a range of school-related issues. We also have coffee and chat mornings held every other month. Please refer to this link for more details.
Through our various activities, including the organization of the annual YIS Food Fair and Welcome Theme dinner at the start of the school year, we try to promote a spirit of community at the school. Additionally we organize activities for parents. Please click here for further details. PTSA room/grade parents also play an important role by coordinating class coffee/lunch gatherings for parents and organizing class/grade parties for our students. (The list of the grade parents can be found on the Parent Portal website.)
We are always looking for new ideas and parents who wish to become involved. Please join us at our next meeting or email us for more information.
Finally, there is a bi- weekly PTSA Broadcaster (e-mail) with notices of upcoming events and activities. Additionally, don’t forget to look at the PTSA News page and the PTSA calendar every now and then in order to keep up to date with events. Make sure to indicate in the box on the PTSA Calendar the activities you are particularly interested in so that you can customize your settings on the School Calendar page!
Should you have any further questions or suggestions, you can contact the PTSA by sending us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
