Grade 8 students
celebrated the end of their middle school years together with teachers,
students, family and friends at a graduation ceremony held at the Tanner
Auditorium on June 8. The festive evening included a class message delivered by
Adam Davidson and Sophia Endert, dramatic, musical and visual arts
presentations by the students, and speeches by Headmaster Simon Taylor and
Middle School Principal John Snowball.
The grade 8
tutors, Richard Scagliarini, Feraille Cowan and, standing in for Djasi
Robinson, Susie Clifford, spoke about the special bonds that have been formed
over the course of the year with their tutees, and together with Mr. Snowball
and Mr. Taylor presented all 53 graduating students with certificates.
The finale of
the evening was a lively rendition of “We are the World” sung by the graduating
class, followed by the cutting - and subsequent rapid devouring - of a cake for
the Class of 2014 baked by art assistant and school store manager Spike Niederhauser.
In addition to
those present in the auditorium, friends and relatives from around the globe
were able to view the ceremony live via webstream broadcast. A video of the
full ceremony (in several sections) may be accessed here.
In addition, a
slide show of photos from the evening is available here.
Out heartiest
congratulations to all members of the Class of 2010!
