Introducing Three Days per
Week Option for ELC 1 Class
Beginning in the 2010-11 school year, we will introduce a
new three days per week option for students entering the ELC 1 (3 year olds)
class. The new option is in addition to our existing five days per week program
(half day and full day options) in the Early Learning Center.
The new three days per week option is intended to provide an
alternative for parents who prefer a lighter schedule for their young children
just entering school. Details are as follows:
Schedule: Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:45 am – 2:40 pm
Eligible Students: Students who will be 3 years of age as of
September 1*
Fees: ¥651,000 per semester (¥1,302,000 per year) plus one-time
Registration Fee
Admissions Procedure: Please note that all children
applying for enrollment in the Early Learning Center are asked to come in to
the school for an informal play session and interview before formal acceptance
can be offered. The play session/interview helps to identify any issues that
may affect the applicant’s ability to comfortably access the program, while
also serving as an informal orientation for the children who are accepted to
the ELC. Please see the admissions section of our website for details and
application request.
*ELC 1 is for children who
have turned 3 years of age by September 1 in the year of entry. Students who
turn 3 after September 1 but before December 31 are eligible to enter into ELC 1
at the beginning of the school year in late August with the understanding that
they may, at the ELC Director’s recommendation, be required to repeat the same
year level the following school year.
With the introduction of the new option, the ELC 1 class will
now be offered either as five half days (8:45am – 12:00pm) per week or three
full days (8:45 – 2:40 pm) per week, but may be extended to five full days per
week with the ELC Director’s recommendation and the parents’ approval.
In principle, parents selecting the three days per week
option will not be able to switch to five days per week mid semester.
Along with the introduction of the new three days per week
option, fees for the five days per week half-day option have been adjusted for
parity.
