The YIS IB Diploma Students' Visual Arts Exhibition 2010 at BankArt Studio NYK is made possible through the generous support of HSBC Premier and the YIS Parent, Teacher, Student Association. About the IB Diploma Visual Arts course at YIS The two-year IB Visual Arts course is an optional subject that may be taken as one of six subjects leading to the IB Diploma. The course aims to help students develop the necessary research, practical and critical processes and skills that will enable them to create effective art and design. Projects are 'student led' and students choose their own areas of interest to research and explore and are facilitated by the teacher. In their Independent Workbooks, students research work from other artists and cultures. They then synthesize this with their own ideas through writing, sketches and experimentation to develop their own concepts through to a resulting, completed piece, referred to as the Studio Work, which can take any form in any media. This exhibition of their work is mounted at the end of their course and students are interviewed and the work assessed by an IB Visual Arts examiner in situ. See the online YIS Visual Arts Galleries for examples of student art works.
