YIS Japanese Music Ensembles to perform at ISME World Conference Beijing: August 2010

Yokohama International School Japanese Music Ensemble was selected to perform at the International Society of Music Education 29th World Conference held in Beijing, China - August 1-8, 2010.

The International Society for Music Education was formed at a conference convened by UNESCO in 1953 'to stimulate music education as an integral part of general education' and whose mission is to promote music culture, music education, music conservation and durable development of cultural heritages.

The ISME 29th World Conference 2010 will gather music specialists and educators as well as feature musical ensembles from over 90 countries presenting at prestigious Beijing venues including the China Conservatory of Music and the Chinese National Convention Center (http://www.isme.org/2010/calls_groups.html).

Catapulted to the world stage for one of the most prestigious international music festivals, the YIS Japanese Music Ensembles will perform several concerts during the weeklong tour as well as visit Chinese historical sites: the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Summer Palace.
