New Zealand picture book illustrator Ross Kinnaird visited YIS on Friday January 22, 2010 and shared his experiences as an illustrator with ELC, elementary, and grade six students. Ross, who has also worked extensively as a commercial graphic designer, showed students the process involved in bringing a picture book from initial conception through the design process to publication, and demonstrated illustration techniques that students could then employ in their own work.
Each year, the PTSA generously supports a series of visits from authors, illustrators, and storytellers coordinated by the YIS Library. These dynamic experiences help students to engage with various types of storytelling and learn about writing and the creative process.
