Dear Parents:
Since our last update yesterday, the suspected case of influenza A (H1N1) involving a Japanese high school student in Sakae Ward, Yokohama has proven to be negative for the H1N1 strain.
Barring any sudden change in circumstances, all school events, including today's YIS special performances at the Red Brick Warehouse (1:00 pm and 7:00 pm) in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama, and tomorrow's Food Fair, will take place as scheduled. We look forward to seeing you there.
Although we are relieved at the latest news regarding the suspected case in Japan, given the continuing spread of the H1N1 virus -- currently several hundred reported cases in 13 countries -- throughout the world, we must remain vigilant and prepared. Our Health, Safety and Security Committee will continue to meet on a regular basis and we will update you as necessary.
In any case, please do enjoy the school events on offer this weekend.
