YIS SUMMER PROGRAMS

Elementary Program

 

'Summer's Cool' for Elementary School Students 

 A balanced and engaging full-day program for children aged 5-11

Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

"Summer's Cool" offers a healthy balance of academic, creative and athletic activities held on the YIS campus by qualified staff eager to provide a fun and rewarding summer experience for your child. Our academic program focuses on promoting student improvement in key areas through engaging activities and personalized attention, helping students gain the learning skills and confidence they need to thrive. You may select Option 1 for daily focus classes in Maths and Language Arts, or Option 2 for daily focused support in English as an Additional Language.

As an integral component of the program (and included in the tuition), Zest Catering provides a nutritionally balanced diet of healthy snacks and meals designed to optimize students' energy levels throughout the day. Please see last year's menus for Week 1 and Week 2.

Individualized Enrichment Programs for Middle and High School Students

Focused enrichment programs in English and Mathematics

Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 12:30 - 2:30 pm

Individualized English Enrichment (IEE) is an opportunity for students to build upon existing skills and knowledge and prepare for the academic challenges that await them. Small classes with excellent student:teacher ratios provide personalized support. The course also gives students opportunities to extend and refine their literacy skills through collaboration in working groups and presentations. At the beginning of the program, specific and attainable goals are set for each student, and students work toward these goals during the program to ensure that they improve in areas of study specific to their individual needs. The course is held five days a week for two hours.

Individualized Math Enrichment (IME) is an opportunity for students to build upon existing skills and knowledge and prepare for the academic challenges that await them. Small classes with excellent student:teacher ratios provide personalized support as well as opportunities to puzzle and problem solve in working groups. At the beginning of the program, specific and attainable goals are set for each student, and students work toward these goals during the program to ensure that they improve in areas of study specific to their individual needs. The course is held five days a week for two hours.

 

Essay Writing for College Applications (Open to High School Students)

Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Essay Writing for College Applications is an opportunity for students to brainstorm, plan, write, revise and polish various Common Application and supplemental essays for the college application process. Students will build key writing and storytelling skills and learn important techniques for shaping unique, compelling essays. In addition to peer feedback, students will receive personalized teacher support and guidance throughout the writing process. The course is held five days a week for two hours, and students may join for one week or two weeks.

  • Short course (one week): ¥25,000 per course

Essay Writing for College Applications

 

 




Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is non-refundable. If the applicant cancels enrollment for any reason after registration and before the start of the course, tuition fees will be refunded minus a cancellation charge of 15,000 yen. There is no refund for cancellation by the applicant once the course has begun. If courses are cancelled by YIS for any reason, tuition fees will be fully refunded.
