Our school year begins in late August and is divided into two semesters, the first of which ends in December and the second in mid-June. Most students enroll at the beginning of the school year or at the start of the second semester in early January. However, applicants residing outside Japan may enroll at any time during the school year up until May 1.
Applicants Residing Outside Japan
Overseas applications are reviewed on an as-received basis, and decisions are usually issued within two weeks of receiving fully completed application forms, school records and recommendations, and payment of the application fee. Although we do not have set application deadlines for applicants coming from overseas, we advise parents interested in enrolling their children at the beginning of the school year in August to submit their applications by mid-March (mid-February for high school applicants). Parents wishing to enroll their children at the beginning of the second term in January are advised to submit their applications by mid-November.
Applicants Already Residing in Japan
Applicants already residing in Japan may apply to enroll at the beginning of the school year. Under special circumstances (such as transfer from schools running on a Japanese school calendar), and at the discretion of the relevant principal and head of academics, mid-year enrollment may also be allowed.
ELC, Elementary & Middle Schools
Applications from students already residing in Japan for entry into our Early Learning Center, elementary and middle schools may be submitted at any time. However, notification of admission decisions will depend on anticipated space availability, and for grades in which availability is expected to be limited, decisions may not be announced until mid-April.
Students already residing in Japan seeking entry into our high school in August 2014 are advised to apply in December and no later than January 17, 2014. Notification of admission decisions will initially be made by February 28, 2014, with final notification by April 1, 2014 for any students initially placed in the wait pool. Applications submitted after the deadline/recommended application period may be considered, but space availability is likely to be more problematic.
