Physical Education

Philosophy

The main goal of the YIS PE program is to get students fully involved in different types of physical activity and instill a sense of joy in participation no matter what the student’s ability. There is no formal grading for PE but we do offer constant feedback to our students so that they may improve in all areas.

PE Policy

Students who are well enough to attend school are well enough to take part in PE class. Students who are injured or not feeling well should bring a detailed note explaining the illness or injury so teachers can make the appropriate modifications for that student. For example, students with a cold could still take part in skill-based activities and do less endurance type training. Along the same line, a student with an injury may still be able to take part in class in a reduced capacity and this will be up to the discretion of the PE teacher. We thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.

Students need to wear a YIS logo t-shirt and proper PE shorts to indoor class. For outdoor activities we encourage students to wear appropriate athletic clothing with regards to the weather. All students need to have a team t-shirt for sports day and cross country day which can be worn in class.
