Victories and Renewed Rivalries

Victories and Renewed Rivalries

It was one of the lighter weeks, in terms of number of games being played, but nevertheless there was plenty of action on the courts and fields for the Dragons.

The HS girls tennis team opened up the week with a friendly match against Sacred Heart JV team, it was a great result for our girls as they managed to grab a confidence building win, 3 matches to 2, as they get ready for the KANTO Championships next week.

The MS Boys Soccer team then took the field against British School Tokyo (BST) on Tuesday, and in a very evenly matched affair, the boys came up just short, losing 2-0. A few bounces of the ball in the other direction, and the result could very well have been flipped.

On Wednesday, the HS girls volleyball team travelled to ASIJ, to take on the mighty Mustangs. After not playing their varsity for 3 years, our girls acquitted themselves quite well to the renewed rivalry. JV kicked things off, and fell 2 sets to 0, while the varsity fell 3 sets to 0, but despite the final set totals the girls were in each set, keeping the score close.

Thursday rolled around, and it was the MS Girls turn to hit the hardwood. In what was an exciting day for the Dragons both the A team and B team won their matches against BST 2 sets to 0. For the A team it was especially exciting as it was their 1st win of the season.

Finally, on Saturday, the HS Girls Volleyball teams had their 2nd matches of the week as they took on Yokota at home. JV again started things off, and in what was likely the match of the year, came back from down 1 set to 0, to beat Yokota JV 2 sets to 1. Each set was close, and in fact, the first 2 sets went to additional points as neither team could close the other out winning by 2 to 25. Varsity Girls followed suit, but unfortunately could not match the size and power of Yokota, who won 3 sets to 0.
